A riser recliner chair reclines like any comfortable armchair, then tilts gently forward to bring you up on to your feet. If getting out of the chair has become the hardest part of the day, this is the chair that solves it — quietly, at the press of a handset, without having to call anyone through to help.

Single, dual or four motors — what the difference means

Single motor. One motor drives the whole action: as the backrest goes back, the footrest comes up, because the two are linked. It suits you if you mainly want help standing up, and you tend to sit either upright or fully reclined with nothing much in between. The SureSnug Single Motor is where our range starts, at £399.99.

Dual motor. Two motors, two independent movements — the footrest and the backrest are controlled separately, so you can put your feet up while still sitting upright. This is the one to choose if you have any reason to elevate your legs, or if you sit in your chair for several hours at a time. The SureSnug Dual Motor is £499.99.

Four motor. A four motor chair adds separate control of the lumbar support in the small of your back and of the headrest. It is worth the step up if the chair is where you spend most of your waking day, or if you have a back or neck condition that needs propping in a particular way. The Eminence 4 Motor and the Bordeaux Petite 4 Motor are both £1,499.99.

Heat and massage

Two of our chairs go further than reclining. The Heritage with Heat & Massage at £1,299.99 warms and soothes while you sit, and the Zenith with Heat at £749.99 adds gentle warmth on its own.

What a riser recliner costs

The chairs on this page run from £399.99 to £1,499.99. Most people who are chronically sick or disabled can buy one without paying VAT — our VAT relief page explains who qualifies and what you sign. Finance is there if you would rather spread the cost, and we also sell approved used mobility equipment.

Come and sit in one first

A riser recliner has to fit the person in it — your height, your reach, the way you get up out of a chair. That is very hard to judge from a photograph, so the best thing is to come and try one. Our shops are across the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire, and if getting out is difficult you can ask us about a home demonstration instead.

Looking after it afterwards

We service and repair the equipment we sell from our own service centre, and you can ask about Worry-Free Mobility if you would like servicing and support built in from the start.
